Celebrating 50 Years of the Ford Mustang

The Fairlane Committee began working on a car for America’s youth. It would be sporty, aesthetically pleasing, affordable, and unique. It would challenge the two-seater racing European models that World War II vets had fallen in love with overseas. It would go on to celebrate its fiftieth birthday in April of 2014, as the longest consistently produced American car in history. It was the Ford Mustang.

No NHTSA Recall for Stalling Chrysler Minivans

This week the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration concluded an investigation into stalling problems in older Chrysler and Dodge minivans, and despite confirming the existence of the condition, NHTSA did not order a recall. The reason? That the defect would not likely lead to crashes.

The T-Bird That Almost Made it to the Moon

On May 25, 1961, President John F. Kennedy announced before a special joint session of Congress the dramatic and ambitious goal of sending an American to the Moon. The President turned to several leading American corporations for help, including the Ford Motor Company.     Shell Oil aired a commercial in 1997 of a speeding Ferrari F310 seemingly being refueled from an aircraft as a component of its then-current campaign entitled “The Future Is In The Making.” The campaign was developed to emphasize Shell’s obsession with developing innovative solutions to satisfy customer’s current and future fuel needs.
