Meet Mary Lou, named after my Grandmother. A 1958 Ford Fairlane, three on the tree, 292 Y block with overdrive and no power anything! Not even a radio. She was driven off the lot by my Great Grandfather with my mom sitting next to him. Great Grandpa bought it to haul tractors out of ditches. After his death she was thought lost until it was rediscovered, buried under magazines and newspapers in his son’s (my grandpa) garage after he died. My mom put some serious love in her: re-chromed, painted with original paint and colors, re-upholstered with vintage fabrics, and got her running again before handing her off to my son and me.. that’s 5 generations now! In 2020 my son and I had the engine and transmission rebuilt. Last year (2023) we replaced the generator with an alternator. We have kept her as original as possible.
