Robert Carini, co-founder of the Model A Restorers Club and father of CarShowSafari.com’s good friend Wayne Carini, died this week at the age of 93.
The senior Carini, known far and wide as Bob, began restoring Model As following his service in World War II, doing so while working the night shift at Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut. He and colleague Bill Hall founded the Model A Restorers Club in 1952, since at that time only classic and brass-era cars were allowed at car shows. The MARC organization grew to include chapters across the United States and worldwide.
Carini’s restorations of both cars and motorcycles won countless awards through the years, and his dedication to the hobby earned him a Lifetime Achievement award from the Antique Automobile Club of America.
Wayne Carini, star of Velocity television’s Chasing Classic Cars, has been a supporter of CarShowSafari.com from our earliest days, and on behalf of our organization and our audience we extend our condolences to the entire Carini family and to the many friends of Robert Carini throughout the car hobby and car business.
