For the first time, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will be host to vintage racing as the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association competes on the recently reconfigured road course and conducts exhibition laps on the world- famous oval for the “Brickyard Vintage Racing Invitational” June 6-8.
Vintage cars, especially vintage Indianapolis 500 cars, have been exhibited on the oval previously, but this event marks the first-ever sanctioned on-track competition for vintage cars of any type. More than 500 vintage cars are expected, including many of the world’s finest and most historic.
The races will showcase cars that competed in Formula One, Grand-Am, Trans-Am, NASCAR, and, of course, past Indianapolis 500s. In addition, American racing cars from makes like Chevrolet will compete with historic racecars from Ferrari, Porsche, Jaguar, MG and many others in twelve different classes of racing.
