The Pebble Beach Motoring Classic is an annual event in which a select group of vintage cars travel from Kirkland, WA to Pebble Beach on a 1,500-mile journey along the coast of the Pacific Northwest. The trip starts during the first week of August in order to allow time for leisurely travels and arrival during the mid-point of Monterey Car Week; this year the group started out for Pebble Beach on August 9th. While just completing the trip itself is an accomplishment of note, some participants who have been accepted for participation in the Concours d’Elegance go on to compete in that event as well. At Pebble Beach, spectators traditionally welcome the Motoring Classic participant’s arrival as they parade in from their travels to arrive at Casa Palmero.
