===Moderated by Carrol Jensen with Matthew Goist, Bobby Green, Carl Jensen, and Jason Vansickle. In the early 1900s, led by smaller premium marques such as National, Stutz, Marmon, Mercer, Simplex, and Knox, Speedsters captured the imagination of buyers willing to pay the price of a home for the thrill—where the pursuit of speed far outweighed concerns for safety. At a moment when the nation was undergoing rapid transformation—driven by new technologies, industrial growth, and a shift from rural agriculture to urban life—wealth surged, and the economy strengthened. Manufacturers showcased performance on the track by introducing the “Speedster” to inspire affluent enthusiasts to purchase these minimalist two-seat machines built for speed with large engines and little else. Cities paused as crowds gathered to witness unprecedented speed, while racing permeated popular culture through films, Broadway, and music. Join us as the panel of experts explores the stories and images of America’s original “Supercar.”
