Cars for Kids Automobile Show

Sponsored by the Valley Collector Car Club and the Litchfield Hills Historical Automobile Club, the 8^th Annual Carsfor Kids Automobile Show will be held at the Connecticut Junior Republic (CJR) in Litchfield. 

Gates and registration for exhibitors will open at 8 AM. Show entries are $10 per car. Dashboard plaques will be given to the first 100 entrants and exhibitor gift bags will be given to the first 200 registrants.  Judging will be from 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM and trophies will be awarded at 2:30 PM.  Spectatorparking will open at 10 AM.  Admission is$5 per car. 

A luncheon will be available in the D’Assern Dining Room.  The Hot Rod Special will feature a pulled pork sandwich and coleslaw.  The Cruiser Special will feature a chicken sandwich, lettuce and tomato.  Both specials include pasta salad, iced tea and cookies.  Hamburgers, hot dogs, pretzels, popcorn, ice cream sandwiches and hot and cold beverages will also be sold.  The Litchfield Aid of CJR will conduct itsnot-to-miss signature bake sale on the Food Court.

Children and families will enjoy farm tours, hay rides, face and pumpkin painting, and a scavenger hunt. Visitors may purchase eggs, chrysanthemums, and produce, including, pumpkins, gourds and squash grown by students, at CJR’s roadside Farm Market.  Products from CJR’s vocational classes, including culinary and graphic arts, woodshop, and fine and creative arts, will also be featured.

Proceeds from this event will support the care, treatment and education services that the Junior Republic provides to help at-risk and special needs boys, girls and families in locations throughout the state.
