Pebble Beach Forum:
“Lights, Camera, Action – The Art of Film in Motorsports”
Review by | May 11th, 2026
The Pebble Beach Classic Car Forums in Concours Village have a well-regarded history of offering a slate of excellent discussions by key automotive figures, and the forum “Lights, Camera, Action – The Art of Film in Motorsports” was another example of these high-quality presentations. This event was curated by Women in Motorsports North America (WIMNA). It featured a distinguished group of women with extensive involvements in motorsports: moderator Amanda Busick, versatile pit reporter for FOX Sports; Zoë Barry, entrepreneur and founder Driven Artists Racing Team (DART Car) Project; film producer Pam Miller; and Women in Motorsports founder Cindy Sisson.
Part of the discussion focused on the increasing interest and presentation of stories of women who in the past and present have made unrecognized or little-known contributions to motorsports. Efforts to bring their stories to life include recent film biographies of pioneer woman drag racer Shirley Muldowney, Bonneville racer Paula Murphy, and aerobatic pilot/race car driver/boat racer Betty Skelton (who was the subject of an entire preceding forum on the same day). Several panelists were involved in these projects in some way and went to great lengths in their perspectives that such projects capture the adrenaline, drama, and personalities of their subjects in ways that go beyond the usual racing genre. The emphasis was on the fact that women into the current day continue to break stereotypes and develop new narratives as their participation in the creative process and roles on screen and on the track continue to increase.
This forum was particularly enjoyable due to its dedication to a segment of the motorsports world that is getting the attention that it has not previously enjoyed. It and all of the other events of its type provide participants with educational opportunities that should not be missed. ![]()
