General Motors has confirmed today that it will build a new top-of-the-line Cadillac, a large, rear-wheel-drive sedan starting in late 2015.
At this point the car is unnamed but it is expected that the name will be released relatively soon and that the car’s design will be unveiled sometime during the first half of 2015.
The car will be built in Detroit, GM said, at its Hamtramck assembly plant.
Will this car live up to the “Standard of the World?” Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen has been quoted as saying that the car’s purpose is to “lift the Cadillac range by entering the elite class of top-level luxury cars.” What does he mean by “elite class of top-level luxury cars?” BMW? Audi? Mercedes? Bentley? We should know in about a year’s time.
