Ladies Car Care 101
Back by popular demand, another session of LADIES CAR CARE !
Ladies Car Care 101 is a two hour class for all ages of women to gain confidence in car care.
Learn routine checks, identify what’s under the hood and understand what to do when something goes wrong!
Ladies Car Care 301
In Ladies Car Care 301 we will be covering how to change your car’s oil and oil filter. After demonstrating the steps, each one of you will do this on your own car. So, driving in the car you want to work on is important!
Next, you’ll need to supply your own oil and oil filter. For some of you, this already sounds scary! Don’t fret, we’re going to walk you through what you need to know below.
We’ll be supplying the jack, jack stands, oil catch pan and other tools you’ll need the day of class. But we do ask that you come prepared to get a little dirty and wearing closed toe shoes.
What kind of oil should you get you ask? This information should be in your car’s owner manual or even possibly on the top of your oil cap under the hood of your car. If you want easy, find the specificiations in your car’s owner manual and leave it at that. If you want to know more about oil types, viscosities and more –> this Popular Mechanics article covers the topic well.
The same goes for your oil filter. There are different sizes of filters and you need to find the size code of what your car uses and replace it. You can also look up your car year/make/model when you’re in the auto parts store and it’ll give you the code for what filter you need.
As part of the City of Gardena‘s Used Motor Oil & Filter Recycling Program, Kevin Sales of KJServices Environmental Consulting will provide a presentation on the importance of recycling the used oil and filters from an oil change, where and how to dispose of hazardous wastes safely and best practices for preventing stormwater pollution prevention. Mr. Sales will be on-hand to answer questions on the City’s environmental programs and distribute used oil recycling kits to class participants.
